New Patients are welcome to our practice. However new patients are charged  privately for the first consult.  

Procedures, excisions, and dressings will incur separate fees. Bulk billing is  available for concession card holders, DVA recipients, and under 16. Further  information regarding fees for consultations and procedures are available  from reception. 

We require accounts to be paid in full (Medicare fee and Gap fee) on the day  of consultation. Payments can be made by cash, VISA, Mastercard, American  Express and EFTPOS. In most cases, Medicare rebates can be credited back 

to your account immediately if you have an EFTPOS card with a cheque or  savings facility. Account/Credit Line will not be offered to private patients. 

We welcome WorkCover and MVA however; accounts without a valid claim  number are to be paid in full by the patient.

Standard consultation is usually 10 – 15 minutes. If you think you will need more  time please advise the receptionist when you make your appointment. Please  advise reception on your choice of doctor. 

Some examples of appointments needing extra time: 

  • New patients / initial appointment 
  • Medicals eg work medicals 
  • Complex or multiple problems 
  • Initial antenatal visit 
  • Skin checks 

Provision is made for urgent appointments. If you need urgent assistance please  let the receptionist know.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as  possible so that we can make the appointment available to someone else. 

The expected notice period for cancellation without fee is: 

Allied Health – 24 hours 

General Practitioners and Nursing – 2 hours 

If patients miss an appointment, the clinician reserves the right to decline future  appointments. 

If you arrive late, it is at the Doctor’s discretion to decide if you will be seen for  your appointment. The Doctor and the practice reserve the right to enforce a  cancellation fee of up to $50.00 or to deny further clinical care to a patient who  does not show up for their consultation without having given prior notice.

Delays are sometimes unavoidable. If the doctor is running behind by more  than 30 minutes we will aim to inform you before your appointment time.

Home visits are available to our regular patients (within a 5km radius) where  their condition prevents them from attending the surgery. Home visits cost  $300 per visit.

Phone consults are privately billed with a gap fee. standard phone consult  fee is $100.00. The standard phone/videoconsult  fee is $100.00

This practice provides some health screens and reminders including a recall /  reminder system that is available to remind you to attend for routine  investigations and/or immunisations. Please inform reception if you wish/do  not wish to receive these recalls. A follow up appointment will be made for all  patients for results of ordered tests. 

Sick certificates cannot be back dated.

All patients are required to book an appointment for referrals and sick  certificates. Sick certificates cannot be back dated. 

Generally we like to see patients when requesting a repeat prescription to  review your health and limit overuse or misuse (unless otherwise decided by  your doctor). 

Please note that scripts for pain, diabetes, blood pressure or contraception  medications will not be supplied without a consult. If your request is urgent, only  one month’s supply will be issued, and an appointment must be made with your  doctor. 

The Springbank Medical Centre is a fully accredited practice and follows the  guidelines recommended by the Royal Australian College of General  Practitioners regarding infection control and sterilizing techniques.

We comply with Australian Government Legislation, ensuring that the privacy of  our patients is maintained. 

Your medical records are personal and confidential. In this practice, they are  kept on computer. We have put in place effective security procedures which  restrict access to records. Your records remain secure and private. Your  personal health information is only accessed by authorised staff and will not be  released without your written consent. Only de-identified data may be used for  research purposes. If you do not want your record to be accessed please inform  your doctor. 

We aim to provide high quality care that may involve other health professionals.  For example, if you have diabetes we may ask a diabetes educator to participate  in your care. To do this effectively other health professionals may need access to  your records, but they will remain secure.

Our practice operates according to the Australian Medical Association Code  of Ethics. We invite all patients you to complete a confidential questionnaire  regarding your thoughts on our surgery after your appointment. If you believe  

improvements can be made, there are feedback forms located at reception,  you can also speak to practice staff. If you are unhappy with any aspect of the  care we provide, we would encourage you to speak to one of the doctors at the  first opportunity.
